Yaron Brook on Scientology

The case of Carl Barney is easy to understand and agree about. Even those who believe open immigration is the greatest thing since sliced bread, that the U.S was absolutely right to invade Iraq, that the U.S. should invade Iran too, that Israel is the alpha and omega of the universe – all those ARI positions – might balk at Carl Barney.

For reasons mentioned in other Threads, I think Hunter should be on a. permanent 'dissent' list.

But if the powers that be disagree, perhaps they'd consider a button to push that would leave his posts invisible to me.  I'd really be happier that way.

By the way, this current thread is just a repeat of an earlier waste of time, as I mentioned in this post - and, for anyone that wants to waste the time, there is a long history of his abusive posts.

The article makes three points:

1.  The Ayn Rand Institute continues to associate itself with Carl Barney though almost certainly aware of his long and extensive work for L. Ron Hubbard’s Church of Scientology.

2.  Yaron Brook recently tried to whitewash the Church of Scientology.

3.  A conjecture:  He did it to whitewash Barney.

From the beginning the purpose of ARI Watch has been to show that the “Ayn Rand Institute” is misnamed.  I admire Rand.  I’m sure her ghost is appalled at the shenanigans going on at ARI.  (Vote for Hillary, my God.)

Steve Wolfer might tell us just whom I have abused.  Barney?  Brook?  What did I say that was inaccurate?  (The question about Barney helping homeless bums get a federal guaranteed loan is based on one of the lawsuits against him.)

Recently in one of his podcasts Yaron Brook said that ARI had lost a large donor and about a third of the staff had been laid off.  He didn’t mention it but layoffs included the head of Archives, Jeff Britting, who’d been one of the few productive people there.

ARI’s three largest donors had been Carl Barney, the Koch brothers, and John Allison.

A few days ago a reliable source (go ahead laugh, LOL) told me that the donor who bailed was Carl Barney.

Still, ARI and Barney continue to associate.  If their websites are up-to-date he and Yaron Brook are still on each other’s boards (ARI and CEHE).   July’s OCON featured Barney on a panel discussion, and he was seen talking with ARI’s new executive director, the Israeli Tal Tsfany.

I don’t know why Barney bailed donor-wise.  Perhaps his CEHE isn’t doing well financially.

Update:  Yaron Brook is no longer on the board of Carl Barney's CEHE. Carl Barney is still on the board of the Ayn Rand Institute.
