"That is correct. However, that does not mean nor indicate that I am not interested in learning of the subject. One learns by reading, asking questions, engaging in debate, comparing ideas, etc. I did not, and do not, reject objectivism out of hand - I don't know enough about the subject one way or the other. Most of what I do know has been gleaned from the sites of Mr. Tremblay, Mr. Kelly and ARI. Heck, I even went and bought "Atlas Shrugged" recently. Haven't read it yet, it's next on the agenda"

Fine. All well and good. But the fact remains that you and Mr. Morrow said some totally outlandish, slanderous shit. I'm not one to pull any punches, and if you read back over the "francois is a troll" episode, YOU will see that Mr. Morrow -- at least -- was being a total imbecile.

"I've not misrepresented objectivism to the best of my knowledge. Nor have I launched any attacks, provoked or otherwise. I did address the rude response(s), a matter of dignity and personal pride. My reaction is not unlike your reaction, we both felt the need to address the subject."

Okay, Mr. 2bits, we're all listening:
Explain (in your own words), the previous dealings between yourself and Francois, which caused him to rebuff your holiday wishes.
IF you (and Mr. Morrow) had done so from the first, we wouldn't have this disgusting little flame war.

"Your point on unprovoked personal slurs is well-taken. Unfortunately your first point about dialog is somewhat compromised by your last statement. In fact, it is somewhat similar to the "you're either with us, or against us" doctrine, an unacceptable form of dialog which allows no compromise, no mutual understanding."

'Mutual understanding" begins with a mutual context, which has been SORELY LACKING in your (and your pals) posts so far. All we get is out-of-context fragments of a thread from ANOTHER BOARD, accompanied by Mr. Morrow's assertions of Trolldom for Francois, in blatant contradiction to everything we've seen here ourselves.
Until, and unless, you explain the back-story to this, you and your pal Morrow are going to look like idiots. NO help for it, it's just the nature of the game.
By the way, I'm going to be re-reading "atlas shrugged" on the way down to florida tomorrow, for the start of 2 weeks vacation.
I'm going to miss how this all plays out, unless I can find a decent interenet connection. How sad.

from Morrow: "Hope you stick around 2BitsWorth – I might be banned soon, according to the owner. So what else is new"

Oh, you poor little persecuted man, you! We can't have a spam-artist banned, now can we????
You are a dingy little worm. 2bits I can forgive, to some degree, because he is actually halfway honorable in his approach to all of this, but YOU just keep on with the persecuted little BITCH-act. Fine.
You want to be that way? I'm going to be out of town for 2 weeks, and won't have to read your drivel. If your actions on THIS board are any indication, then Franc was justified in treating you like garbage on the other board.

Joy was referring to people like YOU, you slimy little freak.

2bits: state yoru peace. What exactly is your beef with Francois? WHy should we all go rummaging through another thread on another board, just to substantiate your bullshit flamewar that Morrow wanted? What does it gain anybody?

I don't think you wanted this to go down like it did, 2bits. I think you have been used by Morrow, like all of us others, here.
Just explain your peace, and if/when I get back from FLorida, I'll go over myself and look at the thread. Otherwise, just take your holiday greetings elsewhere. Franc obviously doesn't want them, and if they're going to precipitate a flame-war, neither do I.

I have very little tolerance for bullshit like this. Ideological squabbles are fine, but unprovoked flamewars such as this are just stupid.

IN the immortal words of Rodney king :"Can't we all just get along?"

:)

(Except for you, MOrrow: you suck!)

Henry (French), Emrich (French), Provocateur (French) or Francois (French), whichever or whoever you are, I am not interested in responding to flame, which is what you do best. Think of something intelligent to say, or get lost (That’s Fous le camp, in French).

"2bits: state yoru peace. What exactly is your beef with Francois? WHy should we all go rummaging through another thread on another board, just to substantiate your bullshit flamewar that Morrow wanted? What does it gain anybody?"

Mr. Emrich - my peace has been stated and I beg to differ that I have engaged in a flame war. I quoted the entire thread so you had the context. For background purposes I offered a couple of other threads that, if you so chose, you could gain a further insight into dialogue between Tremblay and myself. Also provided was the fact that the rather rude response was his first post on that site in almost six months.

If you choose not to review them briefly, and that is all it would take, then it would be pointless for me to spell it out here. Personally, I prefer to read for myself what someone else describes so that I may develop my own independent opinion.

Rest assured Mr. Emrich that the matter is closed as far as I am concerned unless someone else wants to keep it open.

I will state again that, IMO, I have not engaged in any "flame war." An objective review of my posts will prove that to be true. Likewise, an objective review of the threads referenced on the other site will also reveal that I did not engage in "flame wars."

In fact, if you review the thread concerning a "Debate on Capitalism" you will see that I actually was trying to get Tremblay and another poster on the same sheet of music, not blasting either party. Tremblay is masterful at debating, it's what he does best. I, on the other hand, am but a novice.

You can accept my words, reject them out of hand, or refer to the cited dialog to develop your own opinion. I cannot control your actions, nor do I want to influence your conclusions. I would suggest however that a few minutes of your time would provide enough information for you to draw a conclusion. The choice is yours.

Except that you have "described" nothing, merely given us links to threads, and expected us to go rummaging around, as if we neither have lives of our own beyond the board, and/or such threads will justify the unconsionable attacks by Mr. Morrow.

I repeat again:
If YOU did nothing wrong, then YOU have nothing to answer for. Were you and Morrow in cahoots, then that's a different can of peaches entirely.

I don't care anymore. I'm going out of town for the next several weeks. You can play your little games with Francois all you want, I have no interest in looking in.
Real life, y'know.

Mr.Morron (oops, I mean Morrow!)
What is up with this insipid "french" fetish? Get over it, you little worm, it's neither clever, nor intellectual. If anything, it's deliberately insulting, BOTH to Francois (direct slam at his ethnicity) and at us (since we are all presumably dumbass peons who are incapable of ascending to your level, as evidenced by your ability to spatter your posts with French phrases.)

Objectivists do not suffer fools gladly.
You are a fool.
Therefore, we do not suffer you gladly.

If anything, we make YOU suffer, you putrid little worm.

Come on, boys & girls - this is *not* the spirit of SOLO. Render unto trolls that which is theirs - dignified silence. I for one don't want to see such cheap currency of debate here as "putrid little worm" & "slimy little freak." Someone has a vendetta against Francois (Lord knows, there are issues with Francois, but nothing like the ones that have been raised here)? Don't fertilise it by posting about it! Same as with that nincompoop pretending to be the head of a Russian counter-revolution. I couldn't believe seemingly intelligent people were giving *that* troll a second of their time. What a waste of space *that* was!! *Please* take time out to read SOLO's Credo & stick with the spirit of *that*.

It's about a man stereotyped as unhealthy because he was not genetically engineered, and how he overcame tremendous obstacles to fulfill his dreams of becoming an astronaut. It is the most objectivist movie I have ever watched. It is the story of a man saving nothing for the way back. It is about the triumph of human will and ability over genetic predestination.

The best objectivist-enthusiastic movie that I have seen recently (video rental) is Memento.

Why?:
The protagonist has anterograde amnesia (can't form new memories).

He must use the evidence of his senses along with critical reasoning in order to sort out who might be his friend or who might be his foe (even his aquaintences are "strangers" to him!). He takes polaroid pictures and writes notes on them to try to substitute a material "short-term memory" and retain perceptions, but this goes foul!

Those who are aware of his predicament do try to utilize him in serving their irrational interests. It's a great movie, but a little anachronological for me (much of the timeline is in reverse, making you feel like he does, perhaps!).

I enjoyed the movie Momento immensely, and I would recommend it for Objectivists, as the themes touched upon (reality, perception, trust, truth, etc.) are all very relevant.

However, the protagonist in this movie is FAR from objective. He interprets the "clues" he leaves himself in any way that seems most suitable at the time. In various places, he fabricates reality completely in an attempt to escape it. He is a "tragic hero": someone you want to like, other than the fact that he's a hopeless subjectivist.

Hey, thanks. Do you have any other suggestions? He said The Hulk was a heroic movie, not a libertarian movie. Fuck you.

Oh, and Mary, I saw Gattaca. Were you really serious ?

Did you expect me to take that seriously ? The main character is Morrow, as if you didn’t know. Morrow attacked Francois near the top of this thread, remember ? Or maybe Mary IS Morrow ?

You have no place here. Maybe you should go to Gattaca ?

It is a libertarian movie. Bruce Banner is an enemy of the government - at first in self-defense, at the end for his own purposes. It also portrays the US military and corporatism for what they are - mindless agencies of force.

Francois

I just watched the Hulk the other day. Banner has an equally nasty enemy represented by the "greedy capitalist". Banner and his collegues want their science to be available to all people for free prompting Banner in a fit of rage at one point to say "It's for everyone!" Hmmm, villifying the profit motive and glorifying altruist utopia of slavery. Doesn't sound too libertarian to me.

We're talking about fundamental science research done at a university, not a new kind of glue for Post-it Notes. And remember that it was a military company in cahoots with the government. Certainly no capitalist.

Well, if you guys don't like my Hulk choice, at least try another of my top 20 movies. (^______^)
