I just want to know how McCain intends to square the notion of reforming Wall Street with this.

That's all.

When a politician says "freedom" it usually means freedom from some foreign power, not freedom from domestic government.

McCain doesn't have a clue about finance. He should come out right now and make it part of his platform that he'd put Ron Paul in charge of the economy.

Sam.

Sam said: "McCain doesn't have a clue about finance."

Nonsense, Sam!   Senator McCain has direct experience in cicumstances quite similar to today's news, from mortgages and real estate to financial failures paid off by the taxpayer.  Click here.

and then Sam said, "...he'd put Ron Paul in charge of the economy."

I have a book you might like to read.  See, at the climax, the bad guys want the good guy to become the economic dictator of the nation.   He refuses because he knows that even if it would work -- which it would not --  it still would not work.  I know that is a tautology, but such is the law of identity; sort of stuck with it as we are.

Just because he was involved in economic issues doesn't mean that he has any clue as how to manage the economy in a rational way.

Mike,

You need to read between the lines. When Sam said that McCain should put Ron Paul in charge of the economy, he was insinuating that having Ron Paul "in charge" would mean more hands-off (laissez faire) "oversight" of the economy than any other currently-serving politician.

He wasn't insinuating that Ron Paul would disregard his own philosophy of laissez faire if only he were to be -- on paper -- put "in charge."

Duh!

Our world, and our various political situations, will be far better and happier when people finally clue in to the fact that, ethically speaking, selfishness and greed are good things. So long as you don't engage in criminality and lying, being selfish and greedy is what everyone should be. But McCain and Obama haven't a clue, so it's really gonna cost us politically.

Well Sam, I'd like to take the credit for seeing that connection but -- as the saying goes -- it doesn't take a rocket scientist!

:-)

Heck, I'm sure that even Luke Setzer (our own rocket scientist) could agree with that!
